BackupVerdict was built on the principles of technical accuracy, impartiality, and transparency. Our reviews, comparison guides, and product analyses are produced by an in-house research and analyst team based on hands-on product testing, market research, and expert analysis.

This page explains how BackupVerdict is funded today, the editorial principles we operate under, and how we will handle any commercial relationships in the future.

BackupVerdict does not currently take any form of advertising revenue, sponsored placements, affiliate commissions, or referral fees.

Every review, ranking, and recommendation on BackupVerdict has been produced independently by our research team. No vendor has paid for inclusion, placement, scoring, or favourable treatment. We have not received commission on any vendor purchase made by a reader, and we do not have affiliate links on the site.

This is the operating reality of BackupVerdict at launch. We mention it here so that readers, vendors, and search engines can rely on a clear, honest statement of how the site is currently funded — rather than language that anticipates a future commercial model that is not yet in place.

BackupVerdict is operated by Expert Insights Tech Ltd, an independent cybersecurity research and review business that has been serving the IT and security community since 2018. Expert Insights funds the research, testing infrastructure, and editorial work behind BackupVerdict.

We invest significant time in each review. Our team has tested 25+ cloud backup solutions, backed up and restored 30TB+ of test data, and conducted 500+ hours of technical research. None of that work is paid for by the vendors we review.

No commercial relationship — current or future — will be permitted to influence:

Product inclusion. Every product reviewed on BackupVerdict has been included on editorial merit. We will not allow a vendor to buy inclusion in any review, comparison, or shortlist. If a product does not meet our editorial standards, it will not appear regardless of any commercial relationship.

Scores, reviews, and recommendations. Our scores, review content, Pros and Cons, “Best for” recommendations, and rankings are determined solely by our editorial team based on hands-on testing. These will never be influenced by advertising, sponsorship, or any other commercial arrangement. A sponsored or paid relationship will not result in a higher score, a more favourable review, or a different recommendation than the same product would receive on its own merits.

Review content. Our analysis — including Pros, Cons, Strengths, Cautions, and Final Verdict sections — is based on independent hands-on evaluation. Vendors cannot review, approve, or modify editorial content before publication.

Rankings and shortlists. Any rankings, shortlists, or “Best of” lists on BackupVerdict are based solely on criteria set by our editorial team. There is no pay-to-play element. BackupVerdict does not currently run an awards programme.

BackupVerdict is currently in an early stage. We are evaluating two possible directions for how the site will be funded in the longer term:

1. Sponsored placements, similar to the model used by Expert Insights, where vendors can pay for promotional positions that are clearly disclosed and that do not affect editorial scores or recommendations.
2. Reseller, where BackupVerdict directly resells some of the products covered on the site.

No decision has been made between these options, and no commercial relationships of either kind are currently in place. If and when our model changes, we will:

• Update this Advertiser Disclosure to describe the new arrangement clearly
• Disclose any sponsored content, paid placements, or affiliate relationships at the point of presentation, in accordance with FTC, ASA, and CMA guidance
• Maintain the same editorial firewall described above — no commercial relationship will influence scores, reviews, or product inclusion

In the meantime, our position is straightforward: every piece of content on BackupVerdict is independent editorial work, with no money flowing between us and the vendors we cover.

When BackupVerdict does begin to accept advertising or sponsorship, we will apply the same standards Expert Insights applies to its own advertising relationships. Prospective advertisers will go through a qualification process in which we evaluate product quality, market credibility, and customer track record. We frequently decline advertising requests at Expert Insights from vendors whose products do not meet the standards our readers expect, and BackupVerdict will operate the same way.

Where any future content on BackupVerdict includes sponsored placements, this will be clearly disclosed at the point of presentation. Sponsored placements may include featured vendor listings, promotional content, or advertising units. All sponsored content will be identified in accordance with applicable advertising regulations.

BackupVerdict is operated by Expert Insights Tech Ltd, which has been publishing independent cybersecurity research since 2018, read by over one million businesses annually. Our long-term credibility depends on maintaining trust with our audience — we prioritise it over short-term commercial gain.
